Car struck by lightning on I-595

FORT LAUDERDALE - A car's rear window exploded and one of its back tires deflated Friday night after it was struck by lightning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The 2003 Chevrolet Impala driven by Michelle Thomas, 23, of Fort Lauderdale, became inoperable immediately after the strike, authorities said.
The bolt hit the car shortly after 8 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 595, just west of U.S. 1.
There were two passengers in the car, including a 4-year-old, but no injuries were reported, the FHP said.
No other information was immediately available.
